| LINE Project
Under the Asia-Invest II Programme a "Link-up with the Internationalisation process between Nepal and Europe", in short LINE project, was started in January 2006 involving 3 partners from Europe and 1 from Nepal. The main applicant of the project is Co.Export S.c.c.ar.I from Italy (www.coexport.it . Similarly, the other partners involved in this project are the Lombardy Region Government (www.regione.lombardia.it) from Italy that acts as Partner 2, the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Zaragoza (www.ajearagon.com) from Spain that acts as Partner 3, and the Silk Association (SAN) form Nepal that acts as Partner 1.
The main aim of this project is to strengthen the EU's political and economic presence across Asia building very good prospects for internationalising Nepalese and European SMEs business strategies through matchmaking activities. The project has duration of 18 months and wants to strengthen mutual trade and investment flows and business co-operation between SMEs of the regions through 20 activities (preparatory, main and follow-up activities) that will lead to B2B matchmaking activities organised during a trade mission to Nepal (Kathmandu).
The main event consists of a half-day seminar and one and a half day for B2B meetings. The LINE project will provide valuable business opportunities to the participating SMEs and will result in mid to long-term business partnerships. Targeted firms will belong to a selected growing sector that, besides, is also singled out as strategic by the Nepalese Government: Manufacturing Sector especially Silk and Pashmina Sector.
The project is comprised of four main activities:
- Realisation of three market researches on the Nepalese, Italian and Spanish textile sector (silk and cashmere) DOWNLOAD;
- Realisation of a Brochure about the LINE project DOWNLOAD;
- Realisation of three seminars: 1) one in Nepal in order to introduce to the Nepalese SMEs the project and to provide them with data about the Italian and Spanish silk and cashmere market (implemented on the 16th September 2006); 2) one in Italy in order to introduce to the Italian SMEs the project and to provide them with data about the Nepalese silk and Pashmina market (implemented on the 16th October 2006); 3) one in Spain in order to introduce to the Spanish SMEs the project and to provide them with data about the Nepalese silk and Pashmina market (implemented on the 18th October 2006);
- Trade mission to Kathmandu (Nepal) DATE. At least 6 Italian and 4 Spanish SMEs of the target sector will meet at least 15 Nepalese ones during B2B meetings.
Overall objective
The overall objective of the project is to raise awareness of Asia in Europe and vice versa by promoting their market potential and by encouraging and facilitating partner search and matchmaking activities for SMEs from Europe and Asia.

- to promote the Nepalese market potential for trade in Europe and vice-versa
- to link European and Nepalese economy by matchmaking activities and partner search
- to enhance export capabilities and foreign direct investment prospects of Nepal
create a permanent interchange of information also available for non-targeted SMEs in each one of the countries involved
